2DCS15

Premiere:3. October 2024
Length:112 minutes
Genre:Thriller, Drama

Director: Aaron Schimberg  •  Cast: Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve, Adam Pearson, Miles G. Jackson

The story of a severely disfigured man who gets a chance at a new, better life. But after a complete surgical reconstruction that turns him into "The Other Man", he paradoxically discovers that he may have been better off before. Aaron Schimberg's black comedy was a festival hit at this year's Sundance and Berlinale.

Edward (Sebastian Stan) is a moribund actor whose occasional roles are aided primarily by his face disfigured by a serious illness. He's long since gotten used to being viewed as a monster by most, yet he's glad there are people who care more about his character than his appearance. One such person is Ingrid (Renate Reinsve), a slightly eccentric neighbour and aspiring theatre director whose ambition is to write a play about Edward and his life.

This changes radically when Edward decides to undergo an experimental surgical procedure that promises to make him "a different person". Literally. The surgery succeeds beyond expectations and Edward suddenly looks like a perfectly ordinary middle-aged American. However, he soon discovers that the loss of specialness, albeit perceived rather negatively by those around him, is more than he expected. A change that was supposed to be for the better sends him on a life course that ends in an "Everything is Wrong" station.
